The winter of 1960 was very successful for Klara Guseva. On January 21 she won her only Soviet title, in the 1,000 m, and was runner-up at the Soviet All-Around Championships and in the 500 m and 1,500 m, then ten days later won the 1,000 m at the World Championships. On February 22, she won the Winter Olympic 1,000 m gold medal. Her next international appearance was at the 1961 World Championships, where she won a bronze in the 1,000 m and was fifth in the all-around. She made her last international appearance at the 1964 Olympics, where she finished fourth in the 3,000 m. Domestically, besides her medals at the 1960 Soviet Championships, Klara Nesterova-Guseva won three bronzes in the 1,000 m – in 1957, 1963 and 1965. In 2019, she was hit by a car and succumbed to her injuries.

Personal Bests: 500 – 46.3 (1965); 1000 – 1:34.1 (1960); 1500 – 2:28.7 (1960); 3000 – 5:14.0 (1965).
