Biography

Alpine skier Evi Lanig, sister of non-Olympian Axel and Hans Peter Lanig, later married bobsleigh Olympian Lorenz Nieberl. She finished ninth in the downhill at the 1952 Oslo Olympics and 14th in the giant slalom. Between 1953-55 she was the German downhill champion and in 1954 and 1955 was also the alpine combination champion, and in 1955 became first German giant slalom champion.
