Karin Peckert-Forsmann was born in Tallinn in 1905 before moving to Germany in the early 1920s. Peckert-Forsmann learned to ski in Bavaria where she competed in several skiing races in the 1930s. She was selected to represent Estonia in Alpine skiing at the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Olympics, becoming the first woman to represent the nation at the Games. She finished 26th in the combined event where she lost more than a minute in the downhill element after losing a ski after a fall.
