Biography

Austrian singles figure skater Helli Sengstschmid finished 12th at the 1962 and 1964 World Championships, and ninth in both 1963 and 1965. At Europeans she was fourth in 1962 and 1965, fifth in 1964, and sixth in 1961. At the 1964 Innsbruck Winter Olympics she placed ninth.

At Austrian nationals, Sengstschmid was overshadowed by Regine Heitzer and finished in second and third places but never won a title. She later studied sports and English and became a teacher. Together with her husband Peter Tunner she participated in the Semperit Rallye in 1965. In later years, she occasionally acted as a figure skating coach.
