Biography

Stefano Pescosolido was an Italian tennis player who played professionally from 1989 to 2006. Pescosolido achieved a career-best singles ranking of #42 in the world in March 1992, and a doubles ranking of #102 in the world in January 1999. He played on Italy’s Davis Cup team from 1992 to 1999.

Pescosolido won his first singles title on the ATP Challenger Tour in May 1989 when he beat Oliver Fuchs of Austria in the Parioli Challenger. He went on to win a further nine Challenger Tour singles titles with his last one coming in April 2004 in Olbia, Italy. As a doubles player he won his first ATP Challenger title in January 1991 in Heilbronn, Germany, with his partner Diego Nargiso. As per his singles career on the Challenger Tour Pescosolido also won a further nine doubles titles. On the ATP Tour he won two singles titles, the first in March 1992 in Scottsdale, Arizona, and the second in October 1993 in Tel Aviv, Israel. As a doubles player he won only one ATP title when he and Laurence Tieleman were victorious at the 1998 Tashkent Open in Uzbekistan.

At the 1991 Mediterranean Games Pescosolido won gold in the singles and doubles. Pescosolido twice reached the singles third round in Grand Slams; the first at the 1993 French Open, and the second at the 1995 Australian Open. He competed in the singles at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics but lost in the first round to Fino Meligeni of Brazil.
