Bonny Warner became interested in luge when she was chosen to carry the Olympic Torch during the torch run for the 1980 Winter Olympics. She attended Stanford on a field hockey scholarship but would later travel to German to learn to luge. She was America’s best known slider in the 1980s. After the 1988 Winter Olympics, she earned her pilot’s license and joined United Airlines in 1990 as a pilot.
