Biography

Andi Bauer was a West German ski jumper who competed at the 1984 Sarajevo and the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. He specialized in the large hill events and placed seventh in 1984 in the large hill and sixth in 1988 with the team. He had three podiums at the Four Hills Tournaments (Vierschanzeetournees) (1981/82 Garmisch-Partenkirchen third; 1986/87 Garmisch-Partenkirchen winner; 1987/88 Innsbruck second).

At the West German nationals, Bauer won 11 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals. He later became a ski jumping coach with the Deutsche Ski-Verband DSV. Initially he became assistant trainer with Reinhard Heß in ski jumping, but in 2005 became head trainer for the German Nordic combined team. In 2011 he was named chief national coach of the women’s national ski jumping team.
