Biography

Russian-born Alexander Baumgärtel was a German speed skater who participated in the 1994 Lillehammer and 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. His best result was a tenth place over 10,000 metres in 1998. Baumgärtel won five national titles. By profession, he became a real estate manager.

Personal Bests: 500 – 38.95 (2000); 1000 – 1:16.21 (1999); 1500 – 1:51.15 (2000); 5000 – 6:31.52 (2000); 10000 – 13:36.72 (2001).
