During the mid-1970s Max Beck competed in the luge for Liechtenstein at international competitions. In 1976 Beck was one of the nine athletes the nation sent to the Innsbruck Olympics. He finished 32nd in the singles and 19th in the doubles with his partner Wolfgang Schädler. From 1979 to 1981 Beck served as the President of the luge club in Triesenberg.
