Biography

Born in Kraków in 1916, Mieczysław Burda later moved to Krynica with his parents after the end of World War I. Burda began his ice hockey career with KTH Krynica in 1931 before playing two seasons with Dab Katowice prior to the outbreak of World War II. After the war he returned to play for KTH Krynica, which was followed by a spell at Unia Krynica, before finishing his career at Gwardia Bydgoszcz in the mid-1950s. During his long domestic career Burda won the Polish league title on three occasions (1939, 1949, 1950). He also represented the Polish national team in 33 matches including playing at the 1948 St. Moritz Olympics.
