Biography

Norwegian ice hockey player Bjørn Elvenes represented domestic teams in both Norway and Sweden after making his début as a junior for Rosenhoff IL in 1957. Elvenes continued to play for Rosenhoff IL in the early 1960s before playing a season with Skeid in 1964–65. The following season he had moved to Sweden, first playing with Rögle BK, before representing Malmö FF from 1966 until 1975.

Elvenes made his first appearance for the Norwegian national team in October 1961 when he was 17-years-old. He had a good record with the national team, captaining them at both junior and senior level, with him competing at the European Championships and the 1964 Innsbruck Olympics. He retired in the late 1970s where he became coach in Sweden working with junior players. Sadly Elvenes was only 44-years-old when he died from cancer in August 1988.
