Biography

During the 1950s and 1960s Polish Army lieutenant Bronisław Gosztyła had a fantastic sporting career as an ice hockey player. Gosztyła began his career with KTH Krynica in 1949 before joining Legia Warszawa in 1955, where he remained until his retirement in 1968. With Legia Warszawa he won seven Polish league titles (1956–57, 1959, 1961, 1963–64, 1967), finished as the runner-up on five occasions, and was named the Polish player of the year in 1962. With 14 seasons at the club he played in 303 matches and scored 206 goals.

From 1955 to 1966 Gosztyła played 114 times for the national team, scoring 41 goals. During his international career he competed at eight editions of the World Cup and the Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo and Innsbruck. He was awarded with multiple honours including the Silver Cross of Merit.
