Biography

Einar Granath began his ice hockey career with brief stints at Mora IK and Västerås IK before joining Södertälje SK in 1957. A popular player, Granath remained at Södertälje for the next decade where he demonstrated excellent leadership qualities. He made his début for the Swedish national team in 1956, going on to represent the side in 25 matches. At the 1960 Squaw Valley Olympics he played in five matches and scored a goal in Sweden’s 19–0 thrashing against Japan. Granath also had the honour of being the flagbearer at the Opening Ceremony of the Games.
