Biography

As there was no bobsled run in the United States in 1928, the U.S. team was made up of Americans who were in Europe at the time of the 1928 Olympics. Granger was one of those selected and he rode on the second-place sled. Granger prepped at Phillips Exeter before attending Yale. He graduated from there in 1924 and did a year of post-graduate work at Christ’s College, Cambridge. He later became quite wealthy as head of his own stock brokerage company in New York City and held a seat on the New York Stock Exchange beginning in 1926. He was also a trustee and director of several companies. During World War II, Granger helped supply war planes to Britain, earning the rank of major.
