Biography

Although never a national amateur titlist, Jim Boyd was All-Army and All-Service champion in both 1955 and 1956 and he had no difficulty winning the gold medal at Melbourne. After the Games, he continued serving in the army until 1959 when he turned pro. However he fought only a few times in four years and never contended for a title.
