Biography

Frans Heikkinen was a Finnish cross-country skier. Heikkinen was born into a farming family in Paltamo. His four siblings were also accomplished cross-country skiers. Heikkinen graduated as a teacher and worked in a school in Sotkamo. He later taught in Kuhmo along with his wife, who was also a teacher. Heikkinen competed in the 50 kilometres at the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Olympics. He finished in seventh place. Heikkinen died of a cerebral hemorrhage in October 1943 during the Continuation War.
