Biography

Willi Hofmann’s most successful year in bobsledding came in 1968, when he teamed up with Hans Candrian, Walter Graf, and Jean Wicki to represent Switzerland on the international scene. After winning that year’s European Championships in the four-man, the quartet journeyed to the Winter Olympics, where their win in the second run allowed them to capture the bronze medal. Hofmann retired from active competition shortly after the Games. Prior to taking up bobsledding, he competed in both Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling from 1962 through 1964.
