Biography

Ernst Hug was a defenseman who played his entire career with Grasshopper Club Zürich, from 1931-38. He was also loaned out to several other clubs, playing with Zürich City, Zürcher SC, and Basel EHC. Hug skated at the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Winter Olympics and played for Switzerland at the 1934 and 1935 World Championships. He also played at the 1932 European Championships and the 1934 Spengler Cup. Hug became a Swiss league referee after his retirement. His business career was as a wine merchant in Zürich.
