Biography

Heini Ihle had his only Olympic appearance at the 1968 Grenoble Winter Games. He finished 22nd and 46th in the normal hill and the large hill event, respectively. In 1965 he earned his only West German national title in the large hill event. The same year Ihle won the second event of the Four Hills Tournament at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, but was later downgraded to second place behind Finnish ski jumper and non-Olympian Erkki Pukka due to incorrect scoring, and Ihle lost the victory by only 0.1 points, only decided one hour after the competition. A trained painter by profession, Ihle later became a youth coach within the German Skiing Association.
