Biography

Peter Karns was US biathlon champion in 1973-74. In addition to his Olympic appearance he competed at the World Championships in 1969-71 and 1973-74. Karns skied for the University of Utah, graduating with a degree in business management, and making All-American in skiing in 1966. He later received an MBA from Montana State University. Karns also coached the US biathlon team from 1973-76 and at the 1976 Winter Olympics. A native of Jackson Hole, he settled back in his hometown and worked in real estate, working with A. D. Holdings and Real Estate of Jackson Hole. Karns served a term as President of the Teton County Board of Realtors.
