Biography

Esa Keskinen began his hockey career in 1981 with FPS Forssa and joined TPS Turku in 1983, playing there until 1988. In 1988 he was the leading scorer in the SM-liiga. From 1988-91 Keskinen played with Lukko Rauma and in 1991 again joined TPS Turku, playing there until 1994. With TPS Turku he won the Finnish title in 1993 and was the most successful player in the SM-liiga in 1993 and 1994, being selected as the MVP of the SM-liiga in 1994. In 1994 Keskinen joined HV71 in the Swedish Elitserien and he played there until 1999. In 1995 he was selected as the MVP of the Elitserien. Keskinen finished his playing career in 1999-2000 with TPS Turku and won his second Finnish title with them in 2000. Internationally Keskinen played at the 1988 and 1994 Winter Olympics, winning a silver and bronze. He was also World champion in 1995, won silver at the 1994 World Championships and bronze at the 1991 European Championships. He also played for the Finnish 1989, 1990 and 1996 World Championships team. After his playing career, Keskinen worked as a coach with TPS Turku in 2004-2005.
