Biography

Norwegian ice hockey player Gunnar Kroge took up the sport in his youth and helped IL Templar to win the junior championship title in the mid-1940s. Templar eventually changed its name to IK Tigrene, with Kroge captaining the side as they won the 1957 national championships. He also played in more than 40 matches with the national team including six games at the 1952 Oslo Olympics. By the early 1960s he had retired from the sport but remained involved with ice hockey as a coach for the national team. Kroge was also a noted sports journalist and worked at Verdens Gang from 1955 until 1995.
