Biography

Władysław Król was an outstanding all-around athlete who played football, tennis, skiing, diving, and ice hockey. He played football for Poland in four games, scoring two goals, and in league play, scored 295 goals in 500 games. Król spent most of his hockey club career with ŁKS Lódź, although he also appeared in the colors of Legia Warszawa, Warszawa City, Katowice Combination, and Poznań. Król competed in ice hockey at the 1936 Winter Olympics and the 1938 World Championships and was capped in hockey 15 times. After retiring in 1950 Król coached the Polish national team, led the Lódz junior team to a 1953 title, and coached football in the 1960s.
