Norbert Lambing

Austrian rower Norbert Lambing came a disappointing 11th with the quadruple sculls at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. In 1998, he won a bronze medal at the World Championships and in total won four World Cup races, also with the quadruple sculls.

Lambing studied sports management and became assistant manager with the professional ice hockey team Vienna (Wien) Capitals. He also worked occasionally as a rowing coach. In 2011, Lambing was elected sports director of the Austrian Rowing Federation.

In 2003, Lambing, along with his team-mates Martin Kobau and Helfried Jurtschitsch, tested positive for nandrolone in a doping test and was suspended for six months. The cause was determined to be the ingestion of a contaminated dietary supplement.
