Biography

Mel Mueller was a pole vaulter who competed at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and won a gold medal at the 2003 Pan American Games. She also finished fifth at the 1999 World Indoor Championships.

Mueller attended the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, where she earned 11 All-America honors, helping U W Oshkosh to two D-3 NCAA titles and five conference championships from 1991-94.

An all-around athlete, Mueller won D-3 NCAA individual titles in the high jump outdoors in 1993 and indoors in the high jump and 55 metre hurdles in 1994. She was named the 1994 US Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III Track & Field Athlete of the Year. She was inducted into the USTFCCCA D-3 Hall of Fame in 2004 and is a member of the U W Oshkosh Hall of Fame. In 2012 she was named to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) women’s track & field all-time team.
