Biography

John Lindgren was a Swedish cross-country skier. Lindgren became the Swedish champion in the 30 kilometres in 1923 and the national champion in the 50 kilometres in 1928, 1930, and 1933. In 1924 Lindgren won the Vasaloppet, an annual cross-country race held on the first Sunday of March in Sweden. At the 1927 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships he won gold in both the 18 kilometres and 50 kilometres.

Lindgren competed in the 50 kilometres at the 1932 Lake Placid Olympics where he finished in eighth place. Lindgren was also scheduled to start in the 18 kilometres but he did not start the race. His brother Ivan Lindgren competed at the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Olympics.
