Biography

Prabhas Charusathiara studied at the Military Academy in Chulachomklao, graduating in 1929, and later became a career military man, eventually reaching the rank of General. He also served in the Thai government as Deputy Prime Minister in 1971-74, and Minister of the Interior. Charusathiara was the first IOC Member to Thailand, as he was elected in 1971, but he only served on the IOC for three years, attending only one of three sessions. In sports he competed in national championships in athletics, boxing, and football. He was President of the Thai Olympic Committee from 1956-74, and served as Honorary President of the Asian Games Federation and the Southeast Asian Peninsular Games.
