Biography

Carlos Di Laura was a Peruvian tennis player who played professionally from 1983 to 1994. Di Laura achieved a career-best doubles ranking of 29 in the world in October 1989, and a singles ranking of 92 in the world in May 1986.

Di Laura competed in the singles at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics when tennis was a demonstration sport. He won his first round match against Israel’s Amos Mansdorf before losing to eventual champion Stefan Edberg of Sweden in round two. Di Laura won three doubles tournaments during the late 1980s; the Madrid Tennis Grand Prix, the Campionati Internazionali di Sicilia, and the ATP Bordeaux. In 1989 he and Sweden’s Ronnie Båthman reached the semi-finals of the doubles at the French Open.
