Biography

Daniel Strigel was a German épée fencer who finished fifth with the team at the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics. Four years later at Athens he placed eighth individually and won the team bronze medal. In 2005, he won team silver at the World Championships.

In 2003, Strigel won the individual national title. He was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. Strigel later became a sports administrator, directing the Regional Centre at Tauberbischofsheim and, since 2010, at the Rhein-Neckar Centre in Heidelberg.
