Biography

Siri Mullinix was a soccer (football) goalkeeper who helped the USA team win silver at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, as she recorded two shutouts during the tournament. She also won a bronze medal at the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Mullinix played in college at the University of North Carolina (UNC), where she helped the Tar Heels win four straight Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) titles and two NCAA titles. She was on the US Women’s National Team from 1999-2004, earning 45 caps.

Professionally Mullinix played with the Raleigh Wings in 1999. She was with the Washington Freedom from 2001-03, leading them to the WUSA Founder’s Cup Championship in 2003, and being named to the Women’s United Soccer Association All-Star team in 2003. Mullinix and Freedom and UNC teammate Mia Hamm were inducted into the Washington Freedom’s “Hall of Freedom”. Mullinix was inducted into the North Carolina Soccer Hall of Fame in 2010.

Mullinix became a soccer coach, starting as an assistant at UNC Greensboro in 2005. She then was named goalkeeping coach at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2009, where she earned a master’s degree in sports leadership in 2010. In 2012 she went to Clemson University as an assistant coach working with goalkeepers. She has also been a goalkeeping coach for the USA U-18 Women’s National Team.
