Slovak footballer Marián Čisovšký began his career in 1996 with local team HFC Humenné before joining Inter Bratislava in 1999. Čisovšký spent five years with Bratislava where he won two league titles and two Slovak Cups. After a brief spell with MŠK Žilina he then signed with Artmedia Petržalka where he won another league and cup title. From 2008 to 2011 he played for FC Politehnica Timișoara in Romania before finishing his domestic career with FC Viktoria Plzeň in the Czech Republic, winning the Czech league title in 2012–13.
With the Slovakia national side Čisovšký played for both the U18 and the U21 teams, making 20 appearances as a youth player. In 2000 he was named in Slovakia’s squad for the football tournament at the Sydney Olympics where he played in two matches, including their 2–1 win against South Africa. From 2002 to 2013 he then made 15 senior appearances for the national team. Sadly Čisovšký was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), causing him to miss the 2014–15 league season and ultimately ending his career. He was only 40-years-old when he died from complications of the disease in June 2020.
