Biography

Raoul du Gardier mainly painted genre pictures, seascapes and worked as a book illustrator. His wife was to be seen in almost all of his paintings. He was born in Wiesbaden (GER), the son of a very wealthy French family. He studied at the Écoles des Beaux Arts in Paris under Gustave Moreau, Théobald Chartran, Élie Delaunay and Albert Maignan.
