Biography

Dutch architect Henri Zwiers studied in Amsterdam and at the Technical High School in Delft. His father Lambertus was a painter, architect, furniture designer, book cover designer, and wallpaper designer. Henri initially took on teaching assignments at the Delft University of Technology. Later he worked mainly in Haarlem in his own company but was also engaged in the reconstruction of Rotterdam after World War II.

Zwiers’ Zuiderbad was a beach resort with restaurant in Zandvoort, which opened in 1933. It existed for only about 10 years and was demolished in 1943 in the course of the fortification of the Atlantic Wall during World War II.
