Biography

Jerzy Jełowicki was a Polish painter, and an agricultural engineer and landlord. He lived alternately in Stadniki and Warszawa. Jełowicki studied in Warszawa, first at the University of Natural Sciences, then at the Academy of Fine Arts and painted in the post-impressionistic style, mainly of battles and historical events with horses. He was a horseman, cavalryman, and lancer and was killed in action at the Battle of Warszawa in 1939. Most of his works were destroyed during the war.
