Biography

Hugo Siegmüller was a Sudeten German painter and graphic artist who painted mostly landscapes in oil. He studied at the Society for the Promotion of German Art and Science in Děčín (at that time German Tetschen), and later at the Wien (Vienna) and Praha Academies of Fine Arts. In World War I, Siegmüller served as a reconnaissance aviator. He later became a drawing teacher at secondary schools in Varnsdorf (German Warnsdorf) in the Sudetenland. Siegmüller also illustrated the story “Der Bergkristall” by Adalbert Stifter (1805–1868). One of his entries each is reproduced in the respective catalogs of art competitions, Ski-runners and The Last Kilometer respectively.
