Biography

Although entered in both 1948 and 1952, José Luis Torres never competed at the Olympics, but the weight thrower was considered one of the fathers of Spanish athletics. Torres won 12 Spanish titles, with six in the shot put and six in the discus throw. He set eight Spanish records – three in the shot put, and five in the discus. Torres competed at the 1950 European Championships in the discus, placing 18th in qualifying, and earned 13 international caps in all.

Personal Bests: SP – 14.01 (1948); DT – 45.60 (1950).
