Before joining Dublin’s Crusaders Athletic Club, sprinter Noel Flanagan ran for Burton Harriers, another Dublin club. He wore the Irish vest for the first time in the triangular match against Scotland and the combined England and Wales team in 1951, and the following year won his first Irish title, the (IAAB) 100 yards, and ran in the triangular match for the second time. Flanagan won his only other national title in 1953 when he became long jump champion. Flanagan was selected for the 100 metres and sprint relay at the 1952 Olympics but was a non-starter in both.
