Biography

The only Olympic champion to hail from the Isle of Skye, Andrew Lindsay followed his uncle Alexander as an Olympic rower. He followed the archetypal British route to international rowing as he was both a pupil at Eton School and a student at Oxford University. Whilst at Oxford he rowed in three Oxford-Cambridge boat races and was President of the University’s boat club. His stay at the top level was very brief as he spent only three years in the national set-up and rowed in only a single world championship and the 2000 Olympic Games. After he had helped Great Britain win their first gold medal in the eight since the long ago Stockholm Olympics of 1912, Lindsay walked away from the sport to pursue a career in business. He has been CEO of Telecom Plus PLC, a business that won a “Company of the Year” award from the Financial Times newspaper.
