Biography

German lightweight rower Claudia Blasberg partnered Valerie Viehoff in the lightweight double sculls at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and won the silver medal. Four years later she again won silver, with Daniela Reimer. All three rowers were awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award.

Blasberg won two lightweight double sculls silver medals at the 1998 and 2002 World Championships, and two golds in 2001 and 2003. From 1998-2004, Blasberg won the German lightweight double sculls nationals seven times in a row with different partners. By profession, she became a graduated nurse. Blasberg later moved to Switzerland, and dated Swiss Rowing Association Director Christian Stofer.
