Biography

Mike Wherley rowed the four for the USA at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games. He competed at the World Championships in 1997-99 and 2001-03, winning five medals, all in the eight, with golds in 1997-99, a silver in 2003, and a bronze in 2002.

Wherley started rowing at the University of Minnesota in 1990, and later rowed for the Penn AC Rowing Association. He was on the US National Team from 1997-2004. He competed for Oxford in 2008 in The Board Race, helping them defeat Cambridge, and in doing so, became the oldest rower in the history of the event at the time.

Wherley was inducted into the National Rowing Hall of Fame in 2014. He has served as the President of the Penn AC Rowing Association.
