Biography

Russ Silvestri was a sailor who finished sixth in the Finn monotype class at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Silvestri raced boats for over 20 years, competing in four Olympic Trials, and won five US titles and a Pan American Games silver medal in the Finn in 1999. He was aboard the crews that participated in the US Challenger series for the 1987 and 2000 America’s Cup. Silvestri won the 2014 Lipton Cup and the Grundig Cup in 2009 and 2010. He later raced Laser boats at the World Masters Championships in 2002 and 2011.

Silvestri graduated from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California (USC) in 1983. He has worked mostly in investment banking, starting as an account executive at Dean Witter, and founded and managed a small-cap value fund, Skiritai Capital, and later became COO at Focus Capital. He also worked with Boyden, an executive search firm. In later years Silvestri became an endurance sport enthusiast, finishing the Escape from Alcatraz four times, and completing the 2007 Ironman New Zealand.
