Biography

Amanda Hopmans was a Dutch tennis player who played professionally from 1994 to 2003. Hopmans achieved a career-best singles ranking of #72 in the world in November 1999 and a doubles ranking of #88 in the world in September 2000. On the ITF Circuit she won eight singles and 11 doubles titles, but never won a WTA title. She made two WTA finals in the space of a month in 2000, losing in the doubles final of the Portugal Open in April, before losing in the singles final of the Warsaw Open in May. One year earlier Hopmans had her best performances at Grand Slams when she reached the second round at Wimbledon and the US Open. In 2000 she competed in the singles at the Sydney Olympics but lost in straight sets to María Alejandra Vento in the first round.
