Biography

Jack Mulhern was a Boston College graduate who competed for the 1952 Olympic team in his only international appearance. After graduating from BC, he had intended to enlist in the Army until he was recruited for the US Olympic ice hockey team. After the 1952 Winter Olympics he attended Suffolk University Law School, graduating in 1956 and then worked for the Boston and Maine Railroad until 1961. Mulhern then became an Assistant District Attorney in Suffolk County from 1961-67. In 1967 he convinced Kevin White to run for Boston mayor, which he did and won, and after his election, White appointed Mulhern Commissioner of the Real Property Department for Boston, a position he held until 1980. In 1980, Mulhern became general counsel for the Boston Redevelopment Authority.
