At the end of the 1930s Mieczysław Palus played ice hockey for Pogoń Lwów and Spartak Lwów before everything halted due to World War II. In 1946 Palus restarted his career with Wisła Kraków before winning his first Polish league title with Cracovia in 1949. His glory days came with Legia Warszawa, winning seven consecutive titles from 1951 to 1957.
Palus played in 26 matches for the Polish national team and scored 12 goals. In 1947 he represented the team at the World Championships in Praha, followed by playing at the Olympics in St. Moritz in 1948. After his retirement he became a successful coach with Legia, winning eight titles. Palus also coached the Polish team at the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Olympics.
