Biography

The 1980 Winter Olympics were the biggest highlight for Ingrīda Amantova as she won her only international tournament medal – a bronze behind fellow Latvian Vera Zozuļa and German Melitta Sollmann. Her other accomplishments were silver at the 1982-83 World Cup and three Soviet titles. After her sporting career Amantova worked as a luge coach, as director of the sports school in Sigulda and beginning in 1998, she was a member of Latvian Olympic Committee. She later served as a vice president of the Latvian Olympians Association.
