Biography

Erle Reiter was runner-up at the US Nationals in singles in 1936-38, and he competed at the 1936 World Championships, placing 11th. Reiter competed briefly in professional ice shows, with a regular engagement at the St. Regis Hotel in New York. During World War II, he started as a tank driver, eventually reaching the rank of sergeant. After the War, he worked for his father’s company, Reiter’s Sales, taking it over in the early 1950s. Erle Reiter later became an avid sailor, mostly on Lake Calhoun and Lake Minnetonka, serving as the Calhoun Yacht Club’s Commodore in 1959.
