Biography

Axel Salzmann was an East German figure skater who paired with Annette Kansy at the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics, where they finished eighth. At the 1971 and the 1972 World Championships they finished seventh on both occasions, and at the Europeans the pair were sixth in 1970, and fifth in 1972. They never won an East German title but finished second in both 1971 and 1972. Salzmann later ran the pub Erdenglück at his home-town club Chemnitzer FC.
