Biography

After the end of the war Freddy Streun played ice hockey for SC Bern in the Swiss national league, interspersed with a couple of seasons with Lausanne HC. In the early 1950s Streun represented the Swiss national team, winning gold at the 1950 European Championships in London. Two years later he competed at the Oslo Olympics, playing in four matches and scoring a goal in their 7–2 win against Norway. The Swiss team finished fifth at the Games, with the tournament also serving as the European Championships, therefore resulting in winning a bronze at the latter. After his playing career Streun spent the 1954–55 season as the head coach of Fribourg-Gottéron. He was 94-years-old when he died in November 2019.
