Biography

Sprint canoeist Karin Haftenberger, along with Anita Kobuß, finished fifth in the K2-500 metres at the 1968 Mexico Olympics. She won the East German national K2-500 title with the non-Olympian Helga Ulze in 1966, and with Kobuß in 1968. Also in 1966, she helped SC Potsdam win the 4 x 500 meters relay title, and in 1968 the K4-500 meters title. In 1966, Haftenberger won a bronze medal with the K4 squad at the World Championships.
