Biography

Ilse Kaschube was an East German flatwater canoeist who won the silver medal in the K-2 500 with Petra Grabowski at the 1972 München Olympics. Only one year later both also claimed the East German title and the World Championship. In 1974 Kaschube added another World title in the K4. She also won the K-1 East German title in 1970, and the K-2 title with non-Olympian Dorethea Oltmann. With Carola Zirzow she won national K-2 titles in 1972 and 1974.

Kaschube later married her non-Olympian teammate Klaus Zeisler and became a department head at VEB Kleiderwerke Altentreptow (a producer of clothes). After reunification she set up a construction company with her husband.
